Chi Sono imercedari?
We are the Mercedarian Friars, members of the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mercy, a Catholic religious Order founded in the year 1218 in Barcelona, Spain, by St. Peter Nolasco. Our miss ion was born in response to the deep suffering of Christians captured during the religious conflicts of the time. Our founder, inspired by the love of Christ and the guidance of Our Lady of Mercy, dedicated his life to the redemption of captives. The Order is composed of priests and brothers who live together in a spirit of fraternal charity, guided by the Rule of St. Augustine and our Mercedarian Constitutions. At the heart of our vocation is a deep commitment to prayer, community life, and apostolic service.

FAQ
Q1: Who can join the Mercedarians in India?
Catholic men aged 18–30 who are committed to Christ, the Church, and feel called to religious life are welcome to discern with us.
Q2: What education is required?
A minimum of Class 10 is preferred, but academic background is less important than spiritual maturity and readiness to grow.
Q3: What if I’m not ready to join now?
You can begin as a friend of the Mercedarians, attending retreats and vocation programs until you are ready to take the next step.
Q4: Is there a cost to join?
No. The Order supports all candidates during formation.
